Join the OpenActive Implementation Group
We are looking for new members to join the OpenActive Implementation Group. This is an opportunity to help shape the direction of OpenActive and help us get people more active.
OpenActive’s goal is to make it as easy to find and book a badminton court as it is a hotel room. Stewarded by the Open Data Institute in partnership with Sport England, we bring together organisations from across the sport and physical activity sector to make this change happen. We help activity providers open up their timetable data in a standardised way, and we encourage innovators to use that data in ways that help people get active.
We are currently looking for new members for our Implementation Group, to help us deliver the next phase of initiative.
What is the Implementation Group?
This group is made up of independent representatives from across the physical activity sector who can provide guidance and support to help us achieve our vision.
It began life as an Advisory Board, but given the greater sense of ownership among the current participants we have taken the decision to rename it.
We would like new members to:
- Play a role in the sport and physical activity sector, such as an activity provider, supplier or data user (or as a representative of these organisation types, for example via a trade association).
- Be able to join Implementation Group meetings at least once a quarter (and at most once every two months). Meetings are usually held in London, and dial-in options can be provided if necessary.
- Be willing to play a hands-on role in helping OpenActive meet its objectives.
Please see the original Advisory Board terms of reference for more detail [link]. These will be reviewed and updated with input from new members.
Inclusivity
We want the Implementation Group to be inclusive and representative of the diverse needs and interests of the sport and physical activity sector. We encourage members from underrepresented groups to apply.
How to apply
If you’d like to join the OpenActive Implementation Group, then please fill out this short application form [link].
Applications must be received through the above form by 5pm on Wednesday 27th March 2019. We will then consider the balance of applicants, and will inform you whether you have been successful or not during the first week of April.
The next Implementation Group meeting will be held in May 2019.
If you have any further questions on the Implementation Group, please get in touch using hello@openactive.org.
